Has God given you a vision to fulfil a particular assignment? If so, what’s your attitude and response been towards this? The reality is that some of us appear to embrace a number of incorrect attitudes which translate into the actions we take (or don’t take). To start with, some of us may bulk at less glamorous assignments. If it’s not one that puts us on a ‘platform’ or brings instant power, recognition, or success for instance, we tend to want to resist such.
There is a quote in the Bible that says,
“Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around.” (Proverbs 13:12, MSG).
There is so much truth in this quote and it always resonates with us more when we feel we have exhausted our abilities and resources to make something we want or desire, happen. In disappointing times, angst can set in after a period of hoping, praying, trying again, failing and waiting. This can become challenging and if care is not taken, this can open so many doors like anxiety, fear, discouragement, hopelessness and depression.
Let’s be completely honest here: No one likes challenging situations! Yet the fact is life happens and we all experience what I call life’s unscripted moments such as loss, poor health, setbacks, etc. These unwanted intruders invade our lives and can leave devastation in their wake. I remember when Juanita Bynum’s song, “I don’t mind the waiting” came out a few years back. I must admit when I heard it, I balked at the idea because I DID mind the waiting. I have told Father my feelings on the matter on several occasions. And if I’m honest, it is still a struggle at times. If only I can get Him to move a little quicker….I would be happy. Or so I think.
